That was God!

That was God!

There is the temptation to indulge in self-praise when we survive hard times instead of saying “that must be God.”

🎯When Elijah announced the abundance of rain after the Mt Carmel challenge the people must have rejoiced over the good news, and given thanks for God’s preservation in three and half years of drought. No rain!

🎯There is always reason for us to thank God, especially those of us who can acknowledge we have been preserved by the Mercies of God!

🎯There is reason to say, like Prophet Samuel said, “thus far God has helped me”

🎯When we consider that we are still alive in the over 3 years of COVID-19, we should rightly say, “That was God.”

🎯Where some of us were born we could have ended up as still birth or had our pregnancy aborted, or died during childhood in the disease-prone conditions we lived.

🎯Growing up, it had to be God for us to survive the ever-present enemies- enemies from the father’s side; enemies from the mother’s side; enemies from the in-laws side, enemies at the place of work.

🎯If there had not been someone who the Scripture calls “The Ever Present Help in the Time of Trouble”; where would we have been?

🎯But oftentimes when we should be thanking God for preservation and for what we have, we are caught complaining about what we don’t have

🎯We should be thanking God always because when there is life, there is Hope.

🎯The Scripture says a living dog is better than a dead Lion.

🎯As David would say: Count your blessings, name them one by one.

💥You have eyes – Thank Him.

💥You can’t see but you can hear – Thank Him.

💥You are not where you think you should be – Thank Him you are alive and there is hope.

💥People may have written you off but they must have forgotten there God who can change any situation.

💥For all God has done to preserve us and keep us going, we should be able to look back and say, “That was God!”

– From the first part of a sermon by Pastor Enoch Adeboye at the RCCG Online Service on Sunday.
