26 Jul Spiritual reasons to watch our words
There are many reasons, physical and spiritual, to watch our words; the way we speak.
🎯While people who are careless with words easily become a nuisance to others, they also displease God.
🎯A village chief may get away with his utterances, but an important president watches what he says because he is a news maker, readily reported in headline news.
🎯Our words are also very important for spiritual growth: the higher we go spiritually, the more important it is to watch what we say.
🎯We cannot afford to be talkative persons when we are close with God.
🎯Going higher requires that you surrender your mouth to God to be purified, which stops you from being reckless with words or engaging in profanity.
🎯The Scripture is clear about the benefits of a purified mouth:
💥It praises the Lord and spews His words like David did.
💥It earns long, purposeful life because the tongue is kept from evil; when you keep your mouth shut, you save your soul from trouble.
💥It also guarantees prosperity in life
🎯What you say will determine whether you rise in life or not.
🎯What we say important because God knows every word we speak.
💥And we will give account of every idle word we speak.
🎯The Bible specifies that as we grow higher in the Lord, we speak the truth in love
🎯The closer you are to God, the more likely your words become decrees, like Joshua’s which stopped the sun from setting to enable him win a war
🎯With that closeness to God you are able to pray a prayer of demand by asking God to do things in your favour.
🎯But the journey to that level of closeness to God starts with a prayer for mercy and surrendering to Him.
