Russian and separatist forces in eastern Ukraine have taken full control of the city of Lysychansk, Russia’s defences ministry says. Its defence minister has told Russian President Vladimir Putin that all of Ukraine’s Luhansk region has been ‘liberated’
* At least three people were killed and dozens of homes damaged by blasts in the Russian city of Belgorod near the Ukraine border, the regional governor said on Sunday, while Ukrainian forces struck a Russian military base in occupied southern Ukraine.
* Fighting intensified on Saturday for Lysychansk, Ukraine’s last bastion in the strategic eastern province of Luhansk, while blasts shook a southern city after the civilian toll from Russian strikes climbed in towns well behind the front lines.
