Russia says it destroyed dozens of Ukrainian drones over its border regions overnight and foiled an attack on Crimea, where Kyiv has ramped up strikes.

*Western militaries are running out of ammunition to give to Ukraine, NATO and UK officials warned, as they urged the bloc to ramp up production. The Pentagon also warned about depleting funds.

*Meanwhile, the White House reiterated its confidence that Congress will approve new Ukraine aid after funding for Kyiv was not included in a last-minute deal to avoid a government shutdown.

*Fresh uncertainly arose over the future of US aid after speaker Kevin McCarthy, who advocated for Ukraine support, was ousted by House Republicans.
