Pastor Adeboye speaks on COVID-19 Vaccination

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has explained his position on the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination.

Some pastors in the country and overseas have spoken against the vaccination but speaking at the Holy Ghost Service of the Church yesterday, Adeboye explained that he would take the jab when it is necessary for him to do the work of God.

“I do anything for Jesus Christ, he said. “If vaccination or no vaccination is going to hinder me from doing the work God has called me to do, even if they ask me to be vaccinated 100 times, I will be vaccinated.”

Recalling what he had said in the past about the pandemic, he said his personal view, which doesn’t represent that of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), is that “Safety is of the Lord and it is for His mercy that we are not consumed.

“It had been predicted that countries like Nigeria would be counting COVID-related deaths by hundreds of thousands but God has been merciful.”

Urging members of the church not to panic, he, however, reminded them that it was not an endorsement for carelessness.

The General Overseer, who has been sighted wearing face mask on many occasions, recalled telling his members that the pandemic would be a noisesome pestilence.

“I have not said you should not get vaccinated. I have said don’t panic but rather than live in fear, you can get vaccinated,” he said last night. “If you believe that getting vaccinated will put your mind at rest, then go ahead.”
