Nasarawa assembly passes 2022 budget, jacked it by N4.5bn

Nasarawa State House of Assembly has raised the 2022 budget of the state from the initial N109.8billion presented by Governor Abdullahi Sule to N114. 3bilion.

Speaker Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi announced the passage of the budget after the Deputy Majority Leader, Daniel Ogazi, moved a motion to that effect and was seconded by the Minority Leader, Abel Bala, at Wednesday’s proceedings.

He explained that the budget was increased after reviewing some sectorial allocations due to their importance and for the overall development of the state.

The speaker applauded members for their commitment and hard work in ensuring speedy passage of the budget.

He advised that consultants on revenue engaged by MDAs that were not adding value to the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR) should be laid off.

“There should be better understanding between all MDAs on the mode and better way of achieving government’s policies and programmes,” he added.
