Highlights of FEC Meeting

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo yesterday approved $2.1 billion for the procurement of railway rolling stocks and other operational materials, and N4.96 billion printing contract for the National Examination Council (NECO).

* Education Minister Adamu Adamu said the NECO contract for the printing of sensitive and non-sensitive equipment and other ancillary equipment for the examination was awarded to nine contractors and would be completed in eight weeks. On the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike, he said FG and university lecturers will soon reach agreement to end it

* Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi explained that rolling stocks are consumables for the operation and maintenance of railway.

* The Council also approved the National Policy on Nigeria’s Second Level Domain that mandates public institutions, ministries, departments and agencies to migrate from using generic domains in their websites and official emails. The Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, said that with the approval of the policy, official communications must be done with Nigeria’s second-level domain name such as ‘.gov.ng’.
