Fury, Usyk Agree To Undisputed Heavyweight Showdown

In a blockbuster announcement, Tyson Fury’s promoters have revealed that the WBC heavyweight champion has signed a deal to face Oleksandr Usyk in a highly anticipated undisputed title clash. Queensberry Promotions announced the news on X, stating that the mega-fight is set for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as part of the city’s Riyadh Season events.

Fury and Usyk had been in negotiations throughout 2023 to settle the undisputed championship, but talks broke down earlier this year. That led Usyk to take on mandatory challenger, Daniel Dubois, last month, where he won a controversial stoppage victory. Fury last fought in December against Derek Chisora in their trilogy bout.

The Gypsy King was slated to face Francis Ngannou in a special attraction fight on 28 October, but this Usyk bout now takes precedence. Fury will not put his WBC belt on the line versus the UFC star, removing any title risk ahead of facing Usyk.

Usyk holds the WBA, WBO and IBF belts, so the winner will become the first undisputed heavyweight champion since the four-belt era began. The IBF may force their mandatory before this bout, while the WBO’s interim champion, Zhilei Zhang, could get a shot after.

Boxing fans will be thrilled to finally see Fury and Usyk collide to crown an undisputed king of the heavyweight division. It promises to be an iconic contest between two dominant champions for the emergence of an undisputed champion
