15 Jan FG Directs Schools To Reopen on January 18
The Federal Government has confirmed the January 18 date for all schools across the country to reopen, following a meeting of stakeholders yesterday.
Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, who met with Commissioners of Education in Abuja yesterday, said it was okay for schools to re-open. He had said the date was tentative and subject to review because of the growing cases of COVID-19.
According to the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Sonny Echono, the government has had extensive discussions with state governors, proprietors of schools, labour /staff unions and students’ representatives to arrive at the decision.
The Ministry stated that the reopening of schools would be in compliance with COVID-19 protocols, especially strict adherence to non-pharmaceutical procedures.
