The Federal Government has declared Friday, October 1 as a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 61st independence anniversary.

Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola made this known in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr. Shuaib Belgore.

The Minister, who assured Nigerians of the Government’s commitment to find a lasting solution to current challenges facing the country, said that the celebration would be without its usual pomp, due to the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.
