The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has advised Nigerians to suspend their Christmas and New Year travels to limit the risk of contracting the virus; worries that passengers shun post arrival COVID-19 tests and provide fake test results. Over 39,070 passengers, who arrived the country recently, did not pay for coronavirus test.
138 corps members have tested positive for COVID-19
* Yesterday, 56 new cases and one death were reported in Nigeria. The new numbers are 66,439 confirmed case; 62,241 recoveries and 1,168 deaths.
The 56 new cases were reported from 10 states- Kaduna (18), FCT (17), Lagos (6), Plateau (5), Kano (3), Kwara (2), Yobe (2), Ekiti (1), Niger (1), Rivers (1).
* The coronavirus vaccine developed by the University of Oxford is highly effective at stopping people developing Covid-19 symptoms, a large trial shows. Interim data suggests 70% protection, but the researchers say the figure may be as high as 90% by tweaking the dose.
