On Saturday, Nigeria reported 829 new cases in 15 states, and 1 death taking national totals to 83576 confirmed cases, 70495 recoveries and 1247 deaths.

The 829 new cases were reported as: Lagos (296), FCT (291), Kaduna (79), Rivers (40), Kano (35), Nasarawa (25), Bauchi (19), Benue (8), Borno (7), Edo (7), Oyo (7), Sokoto (7), Cross River (3), Jigawa (3), and Ogun (2).

* Worldwide, there are 80,720,289 confirmed cases; 56,911,409

recoveries and 1,764,698 deaths

* Akwa Ibom has finally confirmed that its first indigenous governor, Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga (retd) died of COVID-19

* EU countries begin mass vaccination
