03 Sep COVID-19 Update: Nigeria to make vaccination mandatory for civil servants
The Federal Government has alerted the nation of its plans to make COVID-19 vaccination mandatory for all federal civil servants.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, said in Abuja on Thursday during a meeting of the Health Commissioners Forum with federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and health partners the COVID-19 vaccination will be compulsory for federal civil servants once vaccines are available for everyone.
He said the country did not have sufficient vaccines at the moment and so will not institute the mandatory vaccination immediately.
“One of the reasons why we want to do that with the federal civil service is because they will be travelling on behalf of the nation.

The new cases were reported from 20 states, indicating the spread of the virus: Lagos (172), Oyo (93), Rivers (72), Edo (63), Kastina (29), Abia (26), FCT (23), Kano (23), Bayelsa (20), Ogun (20), Ekiti (18), Anambra (16), Delta (16), Osun (14), Imo (11), Benue (6), Enugu (4), Jigawa (2), Niger (2) and Nasarawa (1)
