Nigeria reported only 2 cases and zero deaths on Sunday, even as the Delta variant of the virus creates a third wave in many countries. With that there are now 167467 confirmed cases, 163949 recoveries and 2119 deaths.

The 2 new cases were reported from the Federal Capital Territory.

* The rampaging Third Wave has made South Africa impose new restrictions in a last ditch attempt to stem a sharp rise in cases. The wave of infections has been driven by the spread of the more transmissible Delta variant, weak countermeasures and public fatigue with existing restrictions.
