COVID-19 Update: Nigeria had recorded a total of 13 cases of the UK variant 

Other highlights of the presidential task force (PTF) on COVID-19 briefing yesterday:

Monday Cases: There were 643 new cases and 6 deaths in Nigeria yesterday. So far, there are 140, 391 confirmed cases, 114635 recoveries and 1673 deaths.

The 643 new cases were reported from 19 states: Oyo (88), Lagos (86), Rivers (55), Edo (54), Akwa Ibom (53), Adamawa (52), Plateau (45), Kaduna (41), FCT (34), Kwara (27), Benue (20), Kano (19), Delta (18), Nasarawa (16), Niger (15), Bayelsa (11), Borno (5), Bauchi (2), and Sokoto (2)

CACOVID vs BUA Group: The Coalition Against COVID-19, CACOVID, has disowned the BUA Group’s move to buy vaccines for the country, stating that no individual or company can purchase vaccines directly from any legitimate and recognized manufacturer.

But the Group has released details of what transpired at the CACOVID steering committee where the CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele announced that CACOVID had been given the opportunity through the Afrexim Platform to access and pay for 1million doses, provided payment was made today or tomorrow – failure which the opportunity to get those doses next week may be lost.
