* United Kingdom (UK) has granted a conditional authorization to Merck’s coronavirus antiviral, Molnupiravir, the first pill shown to successfully treat COVID-19. British Health Secretary, Sajid Javid said on Thursday the antiviral treatment Lagevrio, also known as Molnupiravir, which can be taken at home, would be a “game changer” for older people and those more at risk from Covid. Molnupiravir has been authorised for use in people who have mild to moderate COVID-19 and at least one risk factor for developing severe illness. Such risk factors include obesity, older age (>60 years), diabetes mellitus, or heart disease.
