COVID-19 Update: FG postpones second batch vaccination

The Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) on COVID-19 says that the second phase vaccination against the pandemic earlier scheduled to commence on Tuesday in Abuja has been cancelled.

A spokesman in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Mr. Willie Bassey, said in Abuja on Sunday that new date will be communicated, please,” Bassey said.

The PSC had said on Saturday in a statement by Bassey that the second phase vaccination against the pandemic will formally commence on Tuesday in Abuja.

This is after the committee secured the approval of the National Agency for Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

“The PSC has received over four million doses of Moderna vaccine donated by the United States Government to Nigeria.

Sunday Caseload: Nigeria recorded 471 new cases and 2 deaths on Sunday, raising the caseload to 178086 cases; 165763 recoveries and 2187 deaths.

The 471 new cases were reported from 13 states: Lagos (219), Akwa Ibom (102), Ondo (37), Oyo (33), Kwara (19), Rivers (16), Ekiti (15), Delta (14), Ogun (7), FCT (5), Niger (2), Edo (1) and Katsina (1)
