COVID-19 Update: 21 people die on Christmas day, Garba Shehu tests positive

Nigeria recorded 21 deaths on Christmas day as Presidential spokesman Garba Shehu confirmed he has tested positive. In all 1305 new cases were reported.

There are now 236014 confirmed cases, with 212357 recoveries and 3014 deaths recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory

The 1305 new cases were reported from 14 States – Lagos (705), Oyo (234), Ondo (88), Kaduna (79), Rivers (78), Ogun (30), Anambra (25), Kano (24), Enugu (12), Ekiti (11), Jigawa (6), Osun (6), Plateau (6) and Zamfara (1)

* Garba Shehu told Channels Television on Saturday that he is currently in isolation with mild symptoms of the virus, adding that he would undergo further tests to ascertain his status. He said Tijjani Umar, the permanent secretary at the state house, and a few others have also undergone COVID-19 tests.

* The spread of the virus has caused flights disruptions leading to cancellation of almost 5000 fights across most of Europe, the United States and other parts of the world between Friday and Saturday.
