BPE denies plan to sell Biafra War Museum, projects N86.5bn revenue

Director-General, Bureau of Public Enterprise, Alex Okoh, on Wednesday denied there was a plan to sell the Nigerian National War Museum, Umuahia, Abia State.

Okoh spoke during an appearnce before the Senate Committee on Privatization and Commercialization, to defend his agency’s 2022 budget proposal.

The war museum showcases the military history of Nigeria with relics from the Biafra-Nigerian Civil War.

He said: “No plan by the federal government to the concession war museum, it is a monument of historic dimension.”

On the BPE’s 2022 budget estimates, Okoh said N1.4bn was earmarked for personnel cost, N537m for overhead and N167m for capital.

He also said the agency projected revenue of N86.5bn in 2022 mostly from the proposed sale of Afam Power plant worth N78.7bn and Yola Disco, N7.8bn.
