🌎President Bola Tinubu met with leaders of the US, Germany and South Korea on the sidelines of the just concluded G20 summit. The summit which was held in New Delhi, India, saw Nigeria attend as a guest. It also witnessed the conferment of permanent member title on the African Union.

🌎Oil prices dipped on Monday after fresh Saudi and Russian crude output cuts had driven prices to 10-month highs last week. Saudi Arabia and Russia last week announced that they will extend voluntary supply cuts of a combined 1.3 million barrels per day (bpd) until the end of the year. Brent crude fell by 40 cents, or 0.44%, to $90.25 a barrel by 0848 GMT

🌎Security Stories: Gunmen killed a woman in the early hours of Sunday in the Mile 6 area of Jalingo, the Taraba State capital. The gunmen also abducted a police officer’s wife and his daughter. This is one amongst the several cases of kidnapping in Jalingo, the state capital in a space of two weeks.
*The police in Rivers State have arrested six suspects over their alleged involvement in the killing of a divisional police officer (DPO) in the state. The police spokesperson in the state, Grace Iringe-Koko, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
*The police in Anambra State, South-east Nigeria, said they have killed a suspected kidnapper in Umuota village, Obosi, a community in Idemili North Local Government Area of the state. The police spokesperson in the state, Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement on Sunday morning, said the operatives also rescued a kidnap victim during the operation.

🌎Russia-Ukraine War: Ukraine said air defence systems stopped 25 out of 32 Iran-made Shahed drones launched by Russia in a wave aimed at Kyiv and the surrounding region. Reuters witnesses heard at least five blasts across Kyiv, and Ukrainian media footage showed cars damaged. “Drones came on to the capital in groups and from different directions,” Serhiy Popko, the head of Kyiv’s city military administration, said on Telegram.
*Ukraine has blamed Russia for the deaths of two foreign aid workers who were reportedly killed in eastern Ukraine on Sunday, as Russian shelling hit a van carrying a team of four working with a Ukrainian NGO, while dozens of Russian drones targeted Kyiv and wounded at least one civilian. Road to Relief said Anthony Ihnat, a Canadian, died in the attack, along with Spanish aid worker Emma Igual, who studied at the University of California at Berkeley.
*Russian President Vladimir Putin’s party unsurprisingly dominated the ballot box at home and in the occupied Ukrainian territories following regional elections, state-run news reported, despite the international community widely dismissing them as a sham.
