🌎President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his commitment to making Nigeria better, describing his countrymen as hardworking people but believes the nation has no reason to be poor. Tinubu said this when he received a high-powered 62-man delegation, comprising leaders from both the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), to the State House in Abuja on Thursday

🌎Oil prices rose on Friday and are set for a third weekly gain, as better-than-expected Chinese economic data and reports of record oil consumption bolstered the view that demand in the world’s second-largest crude consumer will continue to surge. Brent crude futures rose 65 cents, or 0.7%, to $94.35 as of 0630 GMT.

🌎The Debt Management Office has said Nigeria’s total public debt hit N87.38tn at the end of the second quarter of 2023, representing an increase of 75.29 percent or N37.53tn compared to N49.85tn recorded at the end of March 2023

🌎Russia-Ukraine War: US President Joe Biden plans to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky next week around the UN General Assembly meetings, according to multiple officials.
*Ukraine said it destroyed a Russian air defense system in an attack on occupied Crimea, as Moscow said its forces shot down 11 Ukrainian drones early Thursday morning over the region. Ukraine has stepped up its attacks on Russian targets in Crimea, which was annexed by Moscow in 2014.
*A South Korean minister warned Russia and North Korea could be pursuing “some kind of military deal,” and an official from the presidential office said Seoul has long been aware that Moscow has used weapons provided by Pyongyang in the war.
*Russia’s President Vladimir Putin met his North Korean counterpart Kim Jong-un Wednesday — but it is unclear if they struck an agreement.
