The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said on Wednesday that 950 Nigerian pupils have been abducted from their schools by gunmen in the last six months.

In a statement issued yesterday in New York, United States, the United Nations (UN) agency expressed concern about the attacks and abduction of children in some parts of West and Central Africa.

It urged stakeholders in the education sector to unite at reducing children’s vulnerability and increasing their resilience to keep pupils safe from harm.
