19 Jul Purpose, power of God’s Fire
The very nature of God is fire, which He uses for various purposes.
🎯As we rise in life, it is important to note that although God is love, He is a consuming fire.
💥We need to be conscious of that so we don’t get too casual with Him.
🎯There are many instances in the Scripture where God appeared as fire – in the burning bush to Moses and as tongues of fire on the Day of Pentecost.
🎯As the Lord of all hosts (in Heaven, on Earth and under the Earth), He has all of His creation at His disposal, fire inclusive, to achieve any purpose, including fighting.
🎯He also made fire for purification of His people.
🎯As we move higher in life and in our relationship with God, He purifies us by fire to be clean vessels He can use.
💥Like with gold, purification by fire removes impurities for purity.
🎯Fire is also used by God to show acceptance; for example the acceptance of sacrifice.
🎯In the case of Elijah and King Ahab’s prophets of Baal, God’s fire fell to consume Elijah’s sacrifice to show His supremacy over other gods.
🎯However, God’s fire is discriminatory because it can purify a person to move him higher or consume him.
🎯We have to surrender to Him to be on the safe side, and not to be consumed.
