Obasanjo Rides Commercial Tricycle In Abeokuta, picks passengers

There was drama on Saturday in Abeokuta, Ogun State, as former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, rode a commercial tricycle to pick passengers. Obasanjo, who ‘picked’ passengers in the tricycle, popularly known as Keke NAPEP, said his action was informed by the desire to show the teeming youths that there were many opportunities to legitimately make a living in the country.

He said his action was to further stress what he said earlier that with ‘Keke NAPEP’ business, which his government launched in November 2002, Nigerian youths could still be self-reliant.

Sharing photos of Obasanjo on his Facebook page, Daniel Olusanya, said the former president rode from his residence in Abeokuto to the Kuto underbridge area.

Obasanjo had, in June, donated tricycles to 85 persons, as part of an empowerment programme in honour of his 85th birthday on March 5, 2022.
