04 Feb Nollywood Actress Arrested For Desecrating The Naira
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has handed over Nollywood actress and cosmetologist, Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The ICPC had arrested Omoseyin on Wednesday, along Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, following an intelligence report that she tampered with the new naira notes.
She was arrested after the video of her spraying and stepping on the newly redesigned naira notes at a party surfaced online.
In the viral video, she was also seen flaunting wads of the new naira notes.
According to a statement by the EFCC on Friday, the suspect was subsequently handed over to it on Thursday, for further investigations into the matter, noting that it is an offence contrary to Section 21 (5) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007.
The Commission added that it seized her Range Rover and iPhone, saying that the suspect will be charged to court once investigations have been concluded.
