13 Nov NNPC and First E and P JV Begin Production of Oil from OMLs 83 and 85
The Nigerian National Petroleum, NNPC, and First E AND P JV will soon commence producing oil from Oil Mining Leases 83 and 85.
OMLs 83and 85 were discovered 42 years ago at the Anjala Field on a shallow water asset.
The OML 83 has the capacity of a peak production of 60,000bbl per day. Its discovery also signals the introduction of hydrocarbon into the Abigail-Joseph Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels.
“NNPC is committed to monetize Nigeria’s abundant oil and gas resources from all our assets. It sis in our informed interest to deliver gas projects in view of the resilience gas show in the market since COVID-19 outbreak and the value it delivered,” Group Managing Director Mele Kyari said.
He stressed that partnership with private sectors in oil and gas industry is essential.
The NNPC and First E and P JV also operate the Madu Field, another oil block in OML 85. The production of oil from OML 83 is expected to commence in full in 2021.
