Highlights of Weekly FEC Meeting

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) at its weekly meeting on Wednesday presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, approved the sum of N24.20 billion for the provision of broadband infrastructure in airports, higher institutions, and markets across Nigeria.

Speaking with state house correspondents at the end of the meeting, Isa Pantami, minister of communications and digital economy, said the airports were drawn from the six geo-political zones.

Other highlights of decisions taking by the council, include:

*FEC also approved contract for the dualization of the roads bordering Ekiti and Ondo States worth over N95 billion with a completion period of 54 months.

*Approval for the construction of a 150-room capacity female hostel, at the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria, Kaduna State over N2 billion.

*Council also approved N59.7 billion for some projects in oil-producing communities in Rivers State, including N41.4 billion for the construction of a centre of excellence, which would be used for environmental restoration in the Kana Local Government, construction of a specialist hospital in the sum of N18.3 billion for the people of Ogoni.
