31 Oct FG kicks off the distribution of free meters
The official launch of the federal government’s National Mass Metering Programme (NMMP) was held yesterday as four distribution companies namely, EKEDC, Ikeja Electric, Kano and Kaduna Distribution Companies flagged off the first phase of the programme in their various franchise areas.
The programme is a new aggressive measure initiated by the federal government to bridge the wide metering gap in the country by deploying six million meters across the networks with no charge yet from customers
In Lagos, the State Government said it was working with the electricity distribution companies in the state- Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) and Ikeja Electric (IE), to ensure all households were metered before the end of the current administration.
