COVID-19 Update: Surge of  infections continues in Nigeria

From 1050 on Thursday new cases jumped to 1584 infections on Friday, when 28 patients were discharged and one death recorded.

So, there are now 222655 confirmed cases, 211373 recoveries and 2984 deaths in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory

With Lagos in the lead, the new cases were reported from 11 States as follows: Lagos (906), FCT (258), Rivers (217), Edo (85), Oyo (50), Ogun (16), Ondo (14), Bayelsa (12), Osun (10), Bauchi (9), and Kano (7)

* Canada on Friday, lifted the ban on foreign travellers from Nigeria and nine other African countries. It however reimposed testing, warning that the Omicron variant of Covid-19 risks quickly overwhelming hospitals.

* The World Health Organization (WHO) on Friday issued an emergency use listing (EUL) for NVX-CoV2373 COVID-19 vaccine.
