COVID-19 Update

Death toll in Nigeria rose by 4 to 1151 on Tuesday, when 137 new cases were recorded. So far, there are 63173 confirmed cases and recoveries.

The 137 new cases are reported from 16 states: Lagos (60), Abia (21), FCT (18), Rivers (13), Kaduna (5), Oyo (4), Edo (3), Delta (2), Imo (2), Kano (2), Ogun (2), Bauchi (1), Gombe (1), Nasarawa (1), Niger (1), Osun (1).

* At its briefing on Tuesday, the Presidential Task Force said about 65 per cent of air passengers returning from abroad fail to present themselves for Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test as required by COVID-19 guidelines.

* FG plans to set up a modern vaccine production company in Nigeria to encourage licensed indigenous production of the coronavirus vaccines.
