Nigeria confirmed 180 new cases and 2 deaths on Wednesday, a day the COVID-19 pandemic set alarming records in the US and the UK.

UK:  It became the first country in Europe to pass 50,000 coronavirus deaths and the fifth country to pass 50,000 deaths, coming after the US, Brazil, India and Mexico; a total of 50,365 people have died , up 595 in the past 24 hours.

US: The country surpassed 140,000 news cases yesterday, after recording more than 100,000 new cases per day for 9 days and an average of over 900 deaths a day; more than a million new cases in November pushed total confirmed cases to over 10 million nationally with over 240, 000 deaths.

Nigeria: 64516 cases have been confirmed, 60737 cases discharged and 1162 deaths recorded.  The 180 new cases are reported from 9 states as: Lagos (74), Oyo (41), FCT (19), Kaduna (19), Bauchi (12), Ogun (7), Rivers (4), Cross River (2) and Edo (2).
