Coronavirus: US starts huge vaccine delivery operation

The US has begun delivering the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine “across all states” with the aim of inoculating more than 100 million people by the end of March, officials say.

The first doses, packed in containers with dry ice to keep them refrigerated, were transported across the country on trucks and planes early on Sunday.

US Army Gen Gustave Perna, who is overseeing distribution, said the vaccine would be delivered to 145 locations on Monday, and a further 491 sites on Tuesday and Wednesday. The initial delivery will cover about three million people. According to BBC, senior members of the Trump administration will be among the first people to be vaccinated against coronavirus in the US. But on Sunday, President Donald Trump said early vaccinations would only be offered in specific cases.
