President Buhari has approved the sack of the management of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) over the strike by the Nigerian Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) that grounded activities of the company, causing blackout in Abuja and some states.

🌍COVID-19 Update: Nigeria confirmed 107 new cases, 17 recoveries and zero deaths on Tuesday. So, there are now 214896 confirmed cases; 207495 recoveries and 2980 deaths.
*The NCDC, yesterday reported three additional cases of the Omicron variant, detected in persons with recent travel history to South Africa.
* Lagos Governor, Sanwo-Olu has alerted Nigerians of an impending fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic. The state has banned unvaccinated persons from attending social events and gatherings in the state.
* The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority says international airlines will be made to pay $3500 fine on each passenger flown into the country not complying with the FG’s Revised COVID-19 Provisional Quarantine protocol.
* The Archbishop of Canterbury, The Most Rev. Justin Welby has said the inclusion of Nigeria in UK’S COVID-19 red list is without justification and calls for it to be scrapped.
* British drugmaker GSK says its antibody-based COVID-19 therapy with U.S. partner Vir Biotechnology is effective against all mutations of the Omicron variant.
* But a study suggests Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine may only partially protect against Omicron

🌍Oil Monitor: Prices eased on Wednesday, after two days of gains, as investors waited for an assessment of full impact of the Omicron coronavirus variant on global economy and fuel demand as well as the effectiveness of existing vaccines. Brent crude futures dropped 40 cents, or 0.5%, to $75.04 a barrel at 0748 GMT, after settling 3.2% higher on Tuesday.
